ABSTRACT
The article reports that the six years of research on SCS process conducted by Red Bud, Illinois-based Materials Works Ltd., has started to pay off. The surprising revelation was that brushing hot-rolled steel can give it almost magical corrosion-resistant properties. The patented SCS process has brought a dual focus to the company's strategy. The discovery has transformed The Material Works' mission from just toll processor to metals innovator. INSET: The Economics of SCS.
