Self magazine's co-op plan reinforces drug ad messages, generates traffic for retailers

The article presents views of William J. Abbott, Marketing Director of Self magazine, regarding cooperative advertising program between major drug retailers and Self magazine. According to Abbott, the messages contained in the publication would be reinforced by the help of that program. A logo was developed which incorporated the slogan--Your chain drugstore. New York-based Conde Nast Publications Ltd. published the magazine. The chain drug edition was introduced in September 1982 and reached Canada and the U.S. The publication covered topics like cross-competition between drugstores and other retailers, and opportunities for product diversification and expansion.
