ABSTRACT
The article states that IDC Government and Eagle Eye Publishers Inc. have introduced a new product, FEDTRAX, that offers on-site access to critical marketing data about the U.S. federal government's purchase and use of information technology. FEDTRAX lets users search, retrieve and analyze information about federal prime contracts, federal agency IT budget data, the primary regulations affecting ADP acquisitions, the journal "Federal Computer Week," and Tracker, a proprietary IDC Government database of the top 200 federal IT programs. Subscribers receive an updated CD each month. The CD-ROM is built on Dataware Technologies Inc.'s Answer software. The Dataware search engine provides users near instantaneous access to any data element in either the fixed-field or hypertext applications used in FEDTRAX. FEDTRAX is divided into five key applications of which the Federal Prime Contracts provides information on the most recent five years of contract information covering more than 400,000 ADP and R&D contract actions exceeding $25,000. This contracts database includes all defense and civilian agencies, including purchase offices.
