ABSTRACT
This article offers news briefs pertaining to the Richmond, Virginia chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA). It reports that dismal projections for the Virginia economy in 1982 were made recently at a seminar sponsored by the AMA's Richmond Chapter. According to Berkwood Farmer, chief economist , Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, drought and the grain embargo have worked against Virginia farms. He also said that the agricultural industry was near the break-even point in 1981 with revenues of $1.7 billion and expenses of $1.69 billion. It was predicted by Farmer that a 10 percent reduction in Virginia's 58,000 farms will occur next year and small farms will have to rely on outside income to remain solvent.
