ABSTRACT
The article reports that Asia's first-ever ethylene shipment to the U.S. Gulf, fixed by a Houston, Texas-based olefins trader, will sail from Taiwan. A Japanese trader speculated that the shipment could be the first and last ethylene cargo shipped from Asia to the U.S. It is because of the hurdles involving terminal port clearance, tight product specifications and high freight costs. The 6,000 metric ton cargo will be lifted from tank terminals in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan, between November 20 and November 25 for the four-to-six week voyage to the US Gulf.
