ABSTRACT
The article reports that a bill to legalize physician assisted suicide in England and Wales was given a first reading in the House of Lords. The bill is called the Assisted Dying for the Terminally Ill Bill. The bill would require a small amendment to the Suicide Act of 1961 that made it a crime to aid and abet a suicide. The bill is modeled after a law in Oregon, where physician assisted suicide is legal.
