Excimer lasers make their reliability mark

The article explains why and how excimers are used in marking ophthalmic lenses and the key benefits of using high reliability lasers. Carl Zeiss Vision, manufacturer of ophthalmic lenses, marks all its high-value glass and plastic progressive with a Z logo using excimer lasers. This markings include engraving lens molds, lens blanks and polished lenses before coating. The application of excimer lasers on glass and plastic lenses has shown high reliability, ease of operation and low maintenance.
