This article features Second Sole, a chain of Ohio-based running specialty stores founded in 1981 by former Ohio State University track runner Steve Hixson. The company has grown into a six-store chain with $4 million in annual sales. Second Sole's 40 staffers across the six stores include college and high school All-Americans, as well as a few sales staffers who have participated in the U.S. Olympic Trials.
