ABSTRACT
This article reports that Akzo Nobel is investing €15 million to expand its activities in China with production units in Taixing and Guangzhou, producing polysulphides and paper chemicals, respectively. Both projects, says Akzo Nobel board director for chemicals Leif Darner, "emphasise our ambitious growth plans for the region." Akzo Nobel's chemical business already operates five plants in China. The plant will be operated by Akzo Nobel's Eka Chemicals business. Akzo Nobel already has one paper chemicals facility in the country, close to Shanghai and claims it will be the first company in China to establish a facility for sizing agents in the south, close to the important paperboard-making area of Guangdong.
