ABSTRACT
This article presents information on papers on HIV, inhaled insulin and retirement, published in several journals. The article "Risky Sexual Behaviour," published in the journal "Sexually Transmitted Infections," is based on questionnaires carried out in gay bars in Glasgow and Edinburgh, similar findings have been reported elsewhere in the world. The surveys reported in this paper were carried out in 1996, 1999 and 2002. A total of 97 per cent of respondents reported homosexual contact in the previous year with more that three-quarters reporting anal intercourse. The article "Inhaled Insulin and Type-2 Diabetes," published in the "Annals of Internal Medicine," focuses on a randomised controlled trial which recruited patients from 48 outpatient centres in the U.S. and Canada. All patients had type-2 diabetes and were on dual therapy of insulin and sensitiser, with HbA1c levels between 8 and 11 per cent and no clinically significant respiratory disease.
