ABSTRACT
The article reports that buoyancy in the Asian syndicated loan market is fertile ground for an increase in leveraged buyout (LBO) activity in the region. There has been a huge influx of cash into private equity funds which may be used for acquisitions. However, Asia's strategic buyers are also looking of acquisitions. Moreover, Asia lacks sufficient legal frameworks to support the deals. It also does not have enough institutional investors which are the usual LBO lenders.
