The article profiles baseball writer D. C. Grant. He was eighteen and an ex-schoolboy athlete when he became a baseball writer. In 1916, Grant enrolled in Notre Dame College and became its No. 2 quarterback. After the war he made some publicity work and advertising-copy writing. He was given a coaching and teaching job in a St. Paul military school.
