ABSTRACT
The article presents guidelines for handling playtime of kids. Parents should give their kids a ten-minute warning so they know it's time to clean up their room. Before the playdate, parents should talk to their child about sharing toys with her friend. Ask the other child's parent to bring a couple of her toys. Offer lots of materials and choices. Depending on the time of day, think about serving a small snack--setting out juice and crackers can also be a welcome distraction from play that may have become too stimulating.
