ABSTRACT
The article reports on the financial impact of the decision of advertising agency Ziff-Davis to pull out its membership in American Business Press (ABP) in May 1999. Ziff-Davis' departure follows the announcement of Miller Freeman's pending acquisition of CMP Media. Ziff-Davis and CMP were in the highest dues tier, each paying $150,000 per year. The loss of $300,000 in annual dues cuts away nearly 10% of the association's 1998 dues revenues of $3.3 million. Ziff-Davis' ABP membership expires June 30. To boost its member base, ABP plans to offer full voting membership to online publications, exhibition companies and other providers of business information.
