ABSTRACT
The article presents information on executive succession in the field of education in the U.S. as of September 1971. Recently named to top posts in Washington are Herman R. Goldberg, Associate Commissioner for Elementary and Secondary Education, and Robert M. Worthington, Associate Commissioner for Adult, Vocational, and Technical Education. Another recent appointee is Robert Gilkey, who left the U.S. Information Agency to become the U.S. Office of Education director of environmental education. Paul B. Salmon, formerly superintendent of schools at Sacramento, California, has assumed new responsibilities, as executive secretary of the American Association of School Administrators, succeeding retiring Forrest E. Conner. Roger W. Heyns, former chancellor of the University of California at Berkeley, will take office on January 1, 1971 as full-time president of the American Council on Education. His predecessor, Logan Wilson, is retiring from the post he has held the past 10 years.
