Finland allocates 2010-2025 band for UMTS

This article reports on the allocation of the 2010-2025 MHz band for Universal Mobile Telecommunications System telecommunications devices for the deaf (UMTS TDD) wireless broadband networks by the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communication, according to the Global UMTS TDD Alliance. The ministry awarded a nationwide license in the band to SkyWeb, which expects to deploy a UMTS TDD system to offer mobile broadband services to business and consumers. The company said it will offer an integrated UMTS TDD/Wi-Fi PCMCIA data card, and also plans to offer wireless handsets for wireless Voice over Internet Protocol services.
