The article presents information about comedians Dick Gregory and Godfrey Cambridge. Comedian Dick Gregory is considered as over-rated. As a standup comic Gregory broadened the mainstream presence and range for black comedians. But not as funny as the black comics who've since walked the trails he helped clear. At about the same time the comedian Gregory emerged in the early 1960s, the comedian Godfrey Cambridge, a veteran off-Broadway actor, was breaking through as a standup comic on such television venues as Jack Paar's weekly variety show. Cambridge died of a heart attack in 1976 while getting ready to play "Idi Amin," in a made-for-TV movie.
