ABSTRACT
Presents an update related to interstate commerce in the U.S. as of September 2005. Increase in the cargo volumes at ports in the West Coast in August; Decision of the Homeland Security Council to adopt the National Strategy for Maritime Security as part of an overall national strategy to deter terrorism; Expiration of the implementation of a temporary waiver of the Jones Act for the transportation of petroleum and petroleum products which was granted in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
