ABSTRACT
The article reports that 7-Eleven Inc., the world's largest convenience store chain, hopes to set an industry trend in its partnering with state officials to take a hard line on underage tobacco sales. 7-Eleven announced in August 2005 that it had struck a deal with 40 states' attorney generals to implement new ways to reduce tobacco sales to minors. One of the biggest aspects of the agreement is that 7-Eleven will hire an independent company to run a national mystery-shop program.
