New Gateway Service Accesses Major Vendors

This article reports on the announcement of Business Computer Network (BCN), a gateway system in operation, that its software for IBM personal computers using Hayes Smartmodems became available as of February 1, 1984. The diskette is free to BCN System subscribers, who are able to access 10 major online vendors without paying individual sign-up fees or minimum monthly charges. The software allows logon to BRS, CompuServe, Billboard, Dialog, I. P. Sharp, MJK Commodities, NewsNet, SDC Search, Security Data Service, and WSI Weather and Sports via one or two keystrokes, eliminating usual sign-on protocol.
