This section presents an update on the magazine industry in the U.S. as of March 20, 2000. WCBS television station's Marcia Kramer, best political reporter on the New York air, got another Emmy nomination. New publisher Amy Churgin of Architectural Digest magazine is preening over the annual Hollywood issue, the magazine's biggest in advertising pages in 10 years and up 24 percent from 1999. Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion, a magazine that believes in leading the artful life, boosting its rate base to 525,000. Sports Illustrated For Women magazine finally launched. Their first cover girl is tennis player Anna Kournikova. Travel & Leisure Golf magazine has a new national travel advertising manager, Larry Glick. Jim Spanfeller named Andrew Kramer publisher of Yahoo! Internet Life magazine. He was the first sales employee it ever had four years ago. National Geographic magazine acknowledged the terrific sales job done by Andrea Rene Vaughan and promoted her to advertising director.
