ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the condition of the business-tech book category of the publishing industry as of March 2000. Titles such as The Industry Standard, Red Herring and Wired have increased their advertising pages since the early 1990s together with their circulation. The Internet has inspired the launch of Imagine Media's Business 2.0 and the revamp of Ziff-Davis' PC Computing's editorial section to address the ue of the Internet in business. Other publications are targeting the same costumers, including Internet Week, Yahoo! Internet Life and Time Digital and Fortune's spin-off eCompany Now. Each of the economy-technology publications seeks to differentiate itself from the rest. According to Kevin McCarthy, VP-associate media director at BBDO New York, Wired is thought of as a trendy and creative book among media buyers.
