ABSTRACT
This article deals with the new commercial for Compaq Computer Corp. launched in the U.S. in March 1999. The commercial features a host of quick cuts of people who use or benefit from computers. The advertising campaign tries to give Compaq a more youthful image and tie the brand to the Internet. The marketer is increasing its global advertising budget about 50 percent, to more than $300 million, as it rolls out the advertisements, the first Compaq TV works from DDB Needham Worldwide.
