ABSTRACT
The article presents a study on news about religion in Huntington, West Virginia. This study uses data from a 1975 readership survey conducted in Huntington. Data analyses presented in the study strongly suggest that newspaper readers in Huntington at the time of this study were attracted to media content that is congruent with either a secular or a religious orientation. The secular reader seems to be attracted by straight news, entertainment and sports news, while God-oriented religious persons prefer people-centered content that may combine entertainment with information.
