ABSTRACT
This article presents information on a study related to coronary-artery revascularization before elective major vascular surgery. The study had 90% power to detect a 10% difference in 3.5-year survival rates between groups. In patients with stable symptoms of coronary artery disease who are scheduled for elective major vascular surgery, prophylactic coronary artery revascularization did not reduce long-term all-cause mortality. Several observational studies have suggested that preoperative coronary revascularization before noncardiac surgery prevents death in patients with significant.
