ABSTRACT
This article presents news briefs related to the use of information technology in convenience stores. Kwik Trip Inc. chose iAnywhere Solutions Inc.'s Afaria frontline management security solution to centrally manage, deliver and deploy Microsoft software patches to the company's diverse computing systems in more than 320 stores. The goal was to deliver updated patches to the POS and inventory management systems in each store as well as laptops of traveling employees to meet visa's CISP mandate. Trax Retail Solutions Inc. partnered with LP Software Inc. to deliver a best-in-class data-mining and case-management solution for all retail segments. The new Web-enabled technology automatically identifies every suspect transaction with a built-in intelligence system and does not require a person to set rules, design or to pick queries.
