ABSTRACT
Examines the environmental factors that contribute to the resistance of automotive coatings to etch damage and service life. Effect of acid deposition on the surface of automotive coatings; Specific mechanisms and conditions that cause acid damage to automotive coatings; Analysis of commercially available automotive clearcoat systems that are known to have good etch resistance; Correlation between evaporating acidic moisture and etching.
