ABSTRACT
The article features playwright/poet/performer Luis Alfaro who won a MacArthur Foundation fellowship in 1997. Some of his works are cited including his plays "Bitter Homes and Gardens," "Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner," and "Straight as a Line," and his short film "Chicanismo" which was nominated for an Emmy Award. His other awards are reported such as from the National Endowment for the Arts, Theatre Communications Group and the 1988 National Hispanic Playwriting Competition Prize.
