The article presents problems in managing beverage vault in a retail store. When managing the cold vault, a retailer must look not only at how a particular item is selling, but how that item's sales related to the total category. Removing one item to sell another does not necessarily mean the overall business will benefit. Retailers that do not constantly introduce a steady flow of new products are doing a disservice to customers. A beverage manager who wants to try as many new products as possible has to face distribution access and space constraints with limited doors and manufacturer contracts.
