ABSTRACT
The article presents several news briefs related to retail trade in the U.S. The Supreme Court has allowed plaintiffs with small claims in a class action suit against Exxon Mobil Corp. to participate in a jury verdict with damages of more than $1.3 billion. The case involves current or former direct-served gas station dealers who owned or operated an Exxon service station between 1983 and 1994, and had one or more sales agreements with Exxon. The earnings of Kroger Co., a supermarket chain, increased by 12 percent in the first quarter to $294.3 million, compared with $262.8 million in the previous year.
