ABSTRACT
The article reports that some retailers are offering mini sizes of muffins and pastries to satisfy both the consumers' desire for indulgence and their need to cut calories. Mary Kay O'Connor, director of education for the International Deli, Dairy and Bakery Association, told the Washington Post that his company is encouraging retailers to focus on portion size and to help consumers better under what is portion size. Some bakers point out that it is often profitable to sell a monster muffin simply because it can carry a higher price.
