This article explores why summer is a season for portable devices. This portable focus is driven by increased recreational travel and outdoor activities while enjoying portable devices and power. For instance, Sony Corp. launched its Portable Playstation in March, in time to be early on the gift-giving radar screen for the upcoming school graduation season. Summer is also the season when students can walk completely upright again. For a short time, they are liberated from a school backpack stuffed with books and supplies. And a technology solution to this challenge is to issue notebook computers as students' constant companions.
