ABSTRACT
The article presents information related to the steel industries. World crude steel production for the 61 countries reporting to the International Iron and Steel Institute totaled 95.4 million metric tons in May 2005, a 10.3 percent increase over the same month of 2004. Crude steel production in the United States was 8.1 million tons in May 2005, a decrease of 2.8 percent compared to May 2004. Year-to-date U.S. production of 40.1 million tons showed a slight 0.2 percent decline versus the first five months of 2004.
