ABSTRACT
Putting out spritual world of Izz b. Abd al-Salam, famous Shafiite jurist, to investigate his sufistic views will give us important clues for showing how tasawwuf has been percepted and commentaried by him with a point of view an Islamic jurist. He had undertaken duties of professorship (mudarrislik), judgeship (kadilik), chief-judgeship (başkadılık), religious leadership (imamlık) and preachership (hatiplik) and has dealt with policy and philosophical, juridical and teological and mystical discussions. He had given a lot of works at Tasawwuf branch. He has written approximately fourty works at fields of Islamic Law, Tafseer, Hadith, Theology, Prophetic History, Tasawwuf (Mysticism) and others. Abd al-Salam who has adopted view of Sunnite Sufism based on Qur'an and Sunnah, has two approaches on sufistic topics. First is external and interrogatic attitude as an Islamic jurist and second is internal and defensive attitude, which witness some stuations of sufists closely, and confirm them and congraculate them and accompany them in their spirituals stuations as sufistic leader. Although it isn't possible to meet pholosophical explanations in theoretical andpracticall subjects of sufistic doctrine in his understanding, it can be said that he had presented his views in many topics of actual sufism and especially zuhd.
