ABSTRACT
The article mentions that subscribership for cable modem services grew 22 percent from 2003 to 2004, according to Infonetics Research. Vendor revenues for cable modem termination systems (CMTSs) fell 25 percent quarter-over-quarter from 4Q04 to 1Q05, but this decline was anticipated due to 4Q04's extremely strong sales; Michael Howard, principal analyst of Infonetics Research, predicted that sales growth will resume this year and continue through 2008. Howard said that the DSL and FTTH (fiber to the home) rampage that was causing a reactive cable investment course will be with them for some time. Cisco is the CMTS market share leader with more than 50 percent share of both revenue and ports. Next in line are Motorola and Arris.
