ABSTRACT
The article reports that a U.S.-based law firm Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP has broken the $1bn barrier in terms of revenue for the first time in 2004. Posting an 11.2 per cent increase in revenue, it joins Baker & McKenzie, Jones Day, Latham &x0026; Watkins, and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom in the $1bn elite club. However, it was the New York firm Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz that enjoyed the greatest growth in turnover of all the 100-ranked firms, reporting a staggering 39 per cent increase to reach gross revenues of $431m, up from $310m in 2003.
