ABSTRACT
The article presents information on certain recently published books on international relations that particularly emphasizes on Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. The book "The Arabs: A Narrative History From Mohammed to the Present," by Anthony Nutting is a well-written chronicle in the kings-and-wars tradition may be open to criticism in details of fact and interpretation but remains a useful general history of this "volcanic" and "unpredictable" people. The author has also written "Lawrence of Arabia." "Introduction to the Modern Economic History of the Middle East," by Z.Y. Hershlag is an important study in a relatively neglected field designed to provide a framework for further researches in economic history of the modern Middle East and a background for the author's own forthcoming' volume on the present-day economic structure of the region.
