The hadith studies conducted in Uzbekistan following the independence are discussed under three headings: Official Ideology and Hadith, Published Hadith Works and Hadith in Mixed Works. Particularly the second heading gives the general characteristics of the hadith works published in Uzbekistan following the independence. The studies in this period include translations from classical hadith works, translations of selected hadith works, investigation into hadith history, and studies on hadith procedures. Although translations are dominant in all these studies, recently there are occasional studies marking a transition from translation to compilation.
