ABSTRACT
Because of the lackness of sincerity some people criticise the science of Islamic theology. The criticism of salaf (predecessor), Muslim mystics, philosophers and Western scholars focus generally on the methodological aspects of Islamic Theology. In order to understand the methodology of Islamic Theology, one should take historical development of it into consideration. Thus at the beginning Muslim Islamic Theology tried to defend Islamic principles and than started enlightening the people. The Works of Islamic Theology consist of the subjects such as the attributes of God, the prophethood, and hereafter These prime subjects are called usul and the evaluation of them and some secondary information in relation to them are called wasail. Although the changes of usul are impossible, there is a possibility in the changes of wasail during the passage of time. In this context it is safe to say that the emotional dimension of faith and the psychology of the believer exist in this science. Nonetheless, this aspect of Islamic Theology is neglected due to its usage of debate as a methodology in the historical development.
