ABSTRACT
This article reports that companies have two kinds of leaders such as trappers and skinners. Trappers display the gifts needed to go into highly competitive markets and win business. Their cousins, the skinners, have the tenacity to turn that business into profit. Few companies can boast an abundance of a third kind of leader, one who can drive both growth and execution. Still fewer companies have created a methodology that can be equally effective at driving growth and productivity. Raytheon Six Sigma (R6S) is the genotype of Raytheon Co.'s business strategy. The company defined R6S as a knowledge-based process for transforming Raytheon's culture to maximize customer value and grow the business.
