ABSTRACT
The article reports that Cheryl Berman, an executive of Leo Burnett, shook things up at the Effie Awards in New York last Tuesday, asking why Effies aren't as respected as Cannes Lions. She called on the New York American Marketing Association to revamp judging criteria to focus more on creativity and criticized creatives who back out of judging. Meanwhile, the American Advertising Federation, celebrating its 100th anniversary, held its annual conference in Nashville last week, at which clips of FedEx's appearances in recent films were shown.
