ABSTRACT
The article reports that world crude steel production for the 61 countries reporting to the International Iron and Steel Institute totaled 92.1 million metric tons in April 2005, or 8.0 percent above that of April 2004. Crude steel production fell in France and Great Britain compared to April 2004--by 5.6 percent in France and 1.3 percent in Britain. Production in Germany was 3.9 million metric tons in April, a 1 percent rise from a year ago. World crude steel production stands at 359.3 million metric tons year to date, up 7.0 percent from the first four months of 2004.
