ABSTRACT
This article reports on various sports and recreation events for paraplegics to be held in the U.S. The 2005 Wheelchair Sports U.S.A. National Track and Field Championship is looking to bring together the best of the best athletes from across the country at the same meet. Noted artist Oren Thornhill is designing awards for Best Track and Best Field athlete. A whole lotta crashing and bashing took place during the U.S. Quad Rugby Association National Championship Tournament, held on April 21-25 in Louisville, Kentucky. The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) announced its commitment to a new 2005-2006 initiative, the USOC Paralympic Military Program. It will provide support for veterans with service-connected physical disabilities to participate in Paralympic sports as an ongoing part of their rehabilitation and everyday lives.
