ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decision by American Broadcasting Co. (ABC) to move the airing of NFL Monday Night Football from 8 P.M. to its original 9 P.M. starting time in April 1999 in the U.S. While the move will appease West Coast affiliates that suffered the most from the early starting time, it will also force programmers to fill a large schedule block. ABC will scrap the Monday Night Blast pregame show. ABC affiliates on the West Coast were affected by the early start time because they could not run local evening newscasts on Mondays and were left with prime time to program after the games.
