ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the study from the University of Hawaii, which shows that the movie playing at a neighborhood cineplex could be loud enough to cause hearing loss. Researchers measured sound levels in 23 movie theaters and found that action movies were the loudest, with peak sound levels approaching those taken a few hundred feet from a jet during takeoff.
