ABSTRACT
The article informs that International Power PLC has purchased for £500 million the 1,200 MW CCGT Saltend power plant from Calpine Corp. International Power will purchase the plant in a 70:30 deal with Mitsui & Co. Ltd. of Japan. The acquisition is expected to be completed at the end of July, pending regulatory approval. In 2004, Saltend generated profit before tax of £16 million on net assets of £112 million.
