Weighing the bandwidth options

The article focuses on the capacity enhancement of broadband network. It presents some suggestion in the context of improving network capacity. There are various technologies which can be used individually or in combination to improve the capacity of the network. If the downstream RF bandwidth is increased to 1 GHz, the capacity will effectively improve. Digital modulation should be increased to 1024 QAM. More efficient digital video compression should be used to improve the capacity. Optical nodes should be subdivided and analog video must be eliminated for capacity improvement. Using frequencies above 1GHz will expand both downstream and upstream capacity.
