Portable Generators and Lights Get Smaller, Lighter

The article focuses on the portable inverter generators offered by Yamaha Motor Corp. The generators are available in output ratings of 1,000 to 3,000 watts with features that include spark-arresting mufflers, low-oil warning systems and high efficiency noise insulation packages that make them almost silent. Firefighters can use several generator light kits that combine with a lightweight generator with a swivelling light head in a compact, portable package. An electrical cord reel with an attached light head and power outlet is included in the packaging. High intensity white light-emitting diodes are expected to be available at reasonable prices in about three years.
