The article presents abstracts for various papers related to gastroenterology and hepatology. It informs about a study in which the author first studied 684 patients undergoing total colonoscopy twice within 30 days to calculate odds ratio of missing neoplastic polyps and the relative risk for developing new adenomas with surveillance colonoscopy. Another paper states that in patients with colorectal liver metastases, viable tumour cells can reliably identified within the circulation by etecting messenger RNA using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction.

The dissemination of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells into the circulation plays a critical role in post-operative recurrence and metastasis. Early detection of metastatic tumor cells is critical to identify HCC patients at high risk of relapse. MAGE-3 and -4 genes were evaluated by reverse...

Background: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are prevalently transcribed in the genome yet their potential roles in human cancers are not well understood. The aim of the present study was to determine the lncRNA expression profile in gastric cancer and its potential clinical value. Methods: The...

Dicer, the key enzyme in the RNAi pathway, is misregulated in tumor tissues. The altered expression of Dicer is associated with clinical characteristics in patients with cancer. Liver carcinoma and adjacent non-neoplastic tissues were obtained from 36 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)...

Early detection of disseminated tumor cells in the peripheral blood of patients with early stage gastric cancer could help to improve the outcome after tumor resection. The aim of this study is to evaluate the prognostic significance of tumor-related mRNA for the detection of circulating tumor...

Rho GDP dissociation inhibitor (GDI) beta, (RhoGDI2), has been identified as a proto-oncogene that is upregulated in human cancers, but the role of RhoGDI2 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unclear. In the present study, we investigated the RhoGDI2 expression level in HCC tissues and the...
