ABSTRACT
The article focuses on an American author Katherine Anne Porter. Katherine Anne Porter ranks with William Faulkner, Flannery O'Connor, Ernest Hemingway, and Eudora Welty as a twentieth-century master of modern American short fiction. A consummate artist, she wrote stories marked by unflinching treatment of painful material, deft control of narrative perspective, exquisitely precise details, firmly realized characters, and a finely crafted style. She treats these matters with exquisite artistry in stories based on her youth in Texas and Colorado. Porter won both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award for "The Collected Stories of Katherine Anne Porter." Some of Porter's other works include "Ship of Fools," "Never-Ending Wrong," and "Pale Horse, Pale Rider."
